Boy orders 70,000 lollipops from mother's phone to share with friends

A Kentucky woman was left in a sticky mess when she noticed piles of boxes of candy on her doorstep.

This unexpected arrival was made by her young son while he was playing with her phone.

Holly LaFavers says she tried to stop eight-year-old Liam from ordering 70,000 Dum Dum lollipops on Amazon before the sweets arrived, but it was too late.

Amazon managed to deliver 22 boxes to her.

“He told me he wanted to organize a carnival game and order Dum-Dums as prizes for the event,” Ms. LaFavers said.

“He was kind and caring towards his friends.”

The surprise was further heightened by a quick check of her bank account. She discovered she owed around $4,000 (£3,000) for the order.

“When I saw that amount, I almost passed out,” Ms. LaFavers said.

She later learned that eight more boxes from the order were missing, she added. After a visit to the post office, those boxes were returned to the sender, she said.

Her attempts to get the funds back took a little longer, but she was eventually able to get them back.

“After a long day of dealing with the bank and multiple news stations, I received a call from Amazon saying they would be refunding the money,” she wrote in a social media post.

Ms. LaFavers said she plans to change some settings on her phone to avoid unexpected deliveries in the future.
