A new active player has emerged in the negotiations to end the Russian-Ukrainian war: Dan Driscoll, 39, the US Secretary of the Army. US President Donald Trump has named him his new special representative.
Last week, Driscoll's delegation spent three days in Kyiv, presenting Ukrainian officials with a 28-point peace plan that crossed Ukraine's red lines.
Already on Sunday, Driscoll joined negotiations with the Ukrainian delegation in Geneva, during which the plan was changed to take into account Kyiv's positions. And earlier this week, he held private talks in Abu Dhabi with the head of the GUR, Kirill Budanov, and the Russian delegation, according to sources of the Financial Times.
How did Driscoll appear on the negotiating track? What messages did he convey in Kyiv and how do Ukrainian diplomats assess his appearance? Analysis by Forbes Ukraine.
