Good day, dear colleagues! Some words about me. I have been working with lasers since 2015. I was working as laser cutting operator in different companies so I had the possibility to use different machines. Now I have moved to the country and I have been running my own business for 1 year. Main tasks are laser cutting and engraving, but orders can be really different! I produced magnets, plat bands for windows as well as paronite gaskets. Obviously clients are different too.
However the main sense in laser cutting, why I like it so much, is enjoying, I really put my heart into it. If you don’t keen on the smell of burnt plywood you shouldn’t try the laser cutting. Sure, you will ask me, how much money do I earn? It depends.
Sometimes it can be 5-10 thousands per day without any troubles, sometimes there are no clients at all. However, at least I earn about 60 thousands per month. Now the quantity of orders is less and I have some time on my self-isolation to share with you my top list of the best laser machines.
So, here you are
5th place LTT 6090.
I don’t recommend it to those who use it for business, but not for a hobby.
Of course, the machine was a half-year-old. However, to do the adjustment 2 times a day infuriated terribly! As well as managed it from the M2 board, I believe it is so out-of-date. The table was skewed after first year using, so the files couldn’t run on the entire field. I turned out that this problem is common. The metal is really thin if you work on the body.
Components are the cheapest. Well, you can tell me that this machine is economy class quality, and I answer you that’s why it suits only the beginners There is no sense to buy new one, we have dozens of them dragged from China, so you can’t even get rid of it.
4th place Gard 9060
Once a life I moved to another city, and got a job as a laser cutting operator to the one sole proprietor. There I had chance to use Gard machines. I already had experience setting up machines at that time but the adjustment crushed most once a day, I couldn’t make orders in time, the owner was cursing he had bought a new machine, made something that moment, what happened and so on.
The machine looks certainly nice, but inside there is neither a frame nor some kind of weighting, although the case itself is thick. While engraving the machine was shaking! There were always problems, especially within the components. Luckily I was able to configure and repair everything myself. Although the machine was under warranty, the seller’s customer service did not provide any adequate assistance. All in all, the machine has particular no difference from LTT, the only good thing is it looks a little bit prettier.
3rd place Rabbit 1610SC machine
It was the machine from which I started my own way in the laser cutting. The machine has a field of 1200*900mm. It is massive enough, especially compared with LTT. I was trained by an experienced colleague ad he told me machine needed careful settings, then it could be better than Trotek.
So it has the following advantages: the table that can be turned over to cut the fabrics. Due to the fact that it has a wide nozzle, the engraving of the tiny elements turns out to be more detailed than other machines are able to provide. Therefore, all engraving orders have been done only on Rabbit machine. Talking about disadvantages I can mention the steps are often skipped by Rabbit.
Once while the adjusting the tube the portal hit the second mirror, it moved outward, so within the pulse the beam burned through my trousers. Initially there was Lettero system, but then it was changed to Ruida, it became more and more convenient. I don’t know if they set it now by default or not, but I can’t advise anything except 6442. In general, I recommend Rabbit machine only for experienced users, for beginners it is too hard to use.
2nd place Raylogic
A decent machine, the first time I faced it was on my friend plant. I like the fact the machine is neatly assembled: guides, good belts, the portal, so everything is fine. One point goes for the color of the machine, I don’t know why, but I can’t recognize it as Chinese product.
After this meeting I spoke with my friend 1.5 years afterwards: he was in awe! He was satisfied with service assistant level, however there was no necessity to fix it during this time. Why do I give Raylogic only 2nd place not first? Well, first of all, I haven’t used it by myself, so maybe I don’t know all exploitation details. However I really liked him. Secondly, there is one more shortcoming: the price, it is still expensive
1st place Wattsan 6090 LT
So finally, top of my list! The first place goes to my faithful friend Wattsan 6090 LT. Once there came a time when I decided to launched my own production and buy my own machine. I went to the exhibition. Gard was immediately dismissed. Also it was some no-name machine presented but nothing new compared with cheap Chinese equipment. Moreover on the exhibition Raylogic company was presented but I refused the purchase due to its high price level. At that moment I even forgot about Wattsan machines. Luckily the exhibition brought us together again. So let me share why I was really surprised. First of all the guys cut 20mm acrylic and I was stunned by the result.
The butt was perfectly smooth, mirrored, without any steps. I wasn’t able to on 6 mm, but there was 20mm! Then they put 30 mm ash tree on the cutting, and I cut it on a minimum from one pass. So, constructive advantage is the presence of a frame. An automatic table on chains much more reliable than on belts. We started engraving on maximum speed, the machine stopped dead.
I liked the presence of a three-phase motor, unlike other machines it is located in the center, not from the edge, and it turns out that the shafts are evenly distributed, so there are no distortions while the working process. Also Wattsan has 3 meters belts with a small tooth and its portal looks reliable. In general the price level is the similar to Raylogic. I was told in 20 minutes as much as there is definitely not come across on the forums regarding the selection of cutting parameters, machine settings and a lot more.
So I choose the Wattsan 6090LT model. For 1 year using I am more than satisfied, I have forgotten about frequent adjustments, honestly, I contacted the service once, but it turned out that it was my mistake. I can’t believe that we have companies in Russia with awesome service, but, damn it, guys you are the top! Wish you the best!
