The moment when Vladimir Putin, the Russian leader, will be inclined to begin negotiations is not yet here, believes Matthew Whitaker, the US Ambassador to NATO, according to LSM. He highlighted that the issue with the head of the Kremlin is that, despite being rather vulnerable, he cannot demonstrate it.

“We anticipate resolutions quickly, as if Donald Trump calls and a deal materializes. And sometimes it does,” Whitaker emphasized. “However, in this instance, Vladimir Putin has apparently chosen to remain resolute, and we must keep intensifying the pressure. And that is precisely what is unfolding now.”

The diplomat ascribed Putin’s vulnerabilities to his response concerning the possible deployment of extended-range Tomahawk missiles by the Ukrainian Army, the seizure of a “shadow fleet” vessel by the French naval forces, to which the Kremlin, in his estimation, also “reacted intensely,” and US President Donald Trump’s assertion that the Russian Federation is a “paper tiger.”

“They dedicated the day attempting to convince us that (Russia — ed.) is a bear. We must be prepared because they are erratic. But regardless of what they are, we need to ensure our strength,” Whitaker stated.

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump mentioned that he has “partially” decided to supply Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles, but the final choice hinges on how Kyiv intends to utilize them. As per the WSJ, the United States will also furnish the Ukrainian Armed Forces with intelligence for profound strikes on Russian energy resources. Simultaneously, the Kremlin routinely envisions “escalating the confrontation.”
