Five categories of pensioners at risk: who may be left without payments from October

After updating the legislation, some pensioners, according to independent financial expert Serhiy Korobkin, can count on additional payments of up to 24 thousand hryvnias.

At the same time, another part of Ukrainian pensioners may also temporarily remain without payments from October, reports Economic News, citing information from the Pension Fund of Ukraine.

The PFU explains that there are several reasons for suspending the accrual of funds, and they all relate to verifying the accuracy of data or compliance with procedures.

Most often, problems arise due to errors in documents or the provision of inaccurate information. In such cases, the transfer of funds is suspended until the pensioner makes clarifications and submits the correct information to the PFU service center.

Another reason is going abroad for permanent residence. Payments may also be stopped if the pensioner does not use the card for more than half a year and there are no movements of funds in the account. To resume payments, it is necessary to personally contact the Pension Fund.

No less important is the annual identification procedure. If a person does not pass it, the accrual stops. In 2025, there are three months left for this.

A special situation is when a pensioner is officially declared missing. In this case, all payments are frozen until the person is identified.

If we talk about payments to pensioners in October as a whole, the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine predicts the following figures:

  • UAH 3,758 — for non-working pensioners aged 65 and over with full service (30 years for women, 35 for men);
  • UAH 3,758 — for persons over 80 years of age with 20 and 25 years of experience, respectively;
  • UAH 3,613 — for pensioners aged 70−79 with full service;
  • UAH 3,323 — for persons under 70 years of age with the necessary experience or disability of group I;
  • UAH 3,038 is the minimum payment for other categories of non-working pensioners.

For working pensioners, a different limit applies – not less than UAH 2,361, which corresponds to the subsistence minimum for persons who have lost their ability to work.

We also recall that since October, “age-related” supplements have been provided for people on well-deserved rest who have reached a certain age. Thus, at 70 years old, a person can count on supplements of 300 UAH, at 75 years old – 456 UAH, and at 80 years old – 570 UAH.
