October pension increases: who will receive the “extra” money

In Ukraine, there will be no general indexation of pensions in October, as in March. At the same time, those who reach a certain age may receive an increase.

VIDEO OF THE DAY

TSN writes about this. We are talking about the so-called age-related supplements, which are supposed to partially compensate for the “obsolescence of pensions.”

The amounts of surcharges are as follows:

  • from 70 to 74 years old – 300 UAH;
  • from 75 to 79 years old – 456 UAH;
  • from 80 years old – 570 UAH.

“This supplement is accrued automatically, so there is no need to contact the Pension Fund of Ukraine. However, there are several nuances regarding its receipt: the pension amount should not exceed UAH 10,340.35; the supplement is accrued from the day of reaching the appropriate age (if a pensioner was born on the 1st, he will receive the full amount of the supplement along with the pension for this month; if a pensioner was born, for example, on the 20th, he will receive a supplement to his pension for 10 days, that is, calculated for the days after reaching the age),” the PFU notes.

In addition, there is another equally important point in calculating the allowance: for a person who has reached the next age level, for example, 75 years old, the allowance to the pension will be 156 UAH, because such a pensioner already has an allowance of 300 UAH, assigned at 70 years old, that is, an additional amount is accrued to the next amount.

What pensions do Ukrainians receive?

The average salary in Ukraine, according to the PFU data at the beginning of the summer, was 19,813 UAH. A pension is considered sufficient, the size of which is about 40% of the usual earnings. This is approximately 7.9 thousand UAH. Such an average pension would be considered sufficient by Ukrainian standards. Although in reality, even this amount is insufficient. As of June 2025, Ukrainians receive an average pension of 6.1 thousand UAH (this only concerns old-age pensions).

  • It is also worth adding that the average pension of UAH 6.1 thousand does not mean that the majority receives that much.
  • 3,623,145 people (35.3% of the total number of pensioners) receive a pension of up to UAH 4,000.
  • 5,724,553 people (55.8% of the total number of pensioners) receive a pension of up to UAH 5,000.

In addition, let us recall that earlier “FACTS” wrote about who should expect a pension increase in 2026.
