Chicken eggs continue to be one of the goods whose prices have increased significantly in 2025. And, judging by the forecasts of specialized experts, Ukrainians should not expect a decrease in prices for this product, which is “helped” by active exports.

As reported by the portal agronews.ua, citing Serhiy Karpenko, director of the association “Union of Poultry Farmers of Ukraine”, wholesale prices for eggs have increased by about 20% since mid-August. As a result, producers are selling 10 chicken eggs for 43−45 hryvnias, while at retail they cost about 67−68 hryvnias.
Serhiy Karpenko explained this primarily by the increase in the cost of egg production, which will be additionally influenced by the seasonal factor (the price is lower in spring-summer, and higher in autumn-winter).
However, the latter, according to the specialist, does not always work – for example, the growth of chicken egg exports from Ukraine abroad has allowed to achieve a balance between supply and demand on the market and establish stability. According to the Union of Poultry Farmers of Ukraine, in 8 months of 2025, Ukraine exported almost 1.4 billion chicken eggs, which is 82% more than in the same period in 2024.

However, in reality, such an increase in exports means that “excess” eggs (about 40% of domestic production) are going abroad, which allows producers to keep prices for goods sold on the domestic market at a higher level than if there were no exports. As Serhiy Karpenko explains, “any reduction in export supplies puts pressure on the market and leads to a decrease in selling prices.”
Indeed, according to the Ministry of Finance portal, average egg prices in the summer months of 2025 are more than 1.5 times higher than the prices in the summer months of 2024, 67−68 and 40−41 UAH, respectively.
Meanwhile, in October, Ukrainians are predicted to see a jump in prices for many goods, primarily sunflower oil, after which they will have to pay not 80 hryvnias for a bottle, as they do now, but all of 110.
