People's Deputy of Ukraine Danylo Hetmantsev considers the increase in the minimum pension from 2,361 to 2,564 hryvnias proposed by the Cabinet of Ministers in 2026 insufficient. In his opinion, the size of the “minimum” should be 4,000-4,500 hryvnias, and he intends to seek its increase in the state budget for 2026.

The politician reported this on his Telegram channel, noting that the pension for people with disabilities since childhood is now only UAH 2,361. And it is impossible to survive on this money – it is not enough even for basic needs, not to mention how to buy vital medicines.
And such pensions are a problem for millions of our citizens. In Ukraine, more than 380 thousand people receive a pension of less than 3 thousand hryvnias. Another more than three million receive less than 4 thousand. As I announced earlier, I will submit amendments to the 2026 budget to revise pensions: the minimum should be at least 4-4.5 thousand hryvnias,” Danylo Getmantsev reports.
According to the politician, the resource is in de-shadowing: billions taken out of the shadows should be directed to supporting the most vulnerable categories. One of them, the politician believes, is taking the tobacco market out of the shadows, which can generate up to UAH 2.2 billion per month, which will allow increasing the minimum pension to UAH 4,000.
