What is the Walker Cup?
The Walker Cup is a biennial match play tournament in which top amateur players from the United States play teams from Great Britain and Ireland.
This year's tournament, which will take place on September 6-7 and be broadcast live on Sky Sports, will be the 50th in the event's history and will feature two teams of 10 playing 26 matches over two days.

Where is the Walker Cup held?
The 2025 tournament will be held at Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach, California. It will be the first time the Walker Cup has been held there since 1981, and the course itself is one of the highest-rated in the world.

Recent Walker Cup venues have included Los Angeles Country Club (2017), Royal Liverpool Golf Club (2019), Seminole Golf Club (2021) and the Old Course at St Andrews (2023), with the next edition set to be hosted by Lahinch Golf Club in Ireland.

How good is Luke Poulter?
Poulter Jr. recently recorded 3.5 points in four games as Great Britain and Ireland defeated Team Europe 16.5-18.5 in the St Andrews Cup.

Foursome matches are competitions in which golfers from the UK and Ireland compete against a pair from the US. Team members take turns hitting shots, and each team uses one ball.
Each match is worth one point, and the team with the most points at the end of the two days is the winner of the Walker Cup.

The last of Great Britain and Ireland's nine Walker Cup victories came in 2015, when they beat the United States 16.5-19.5, while their last win on American soil was in 2001 and this year marks the 60th anniversary of the only match to end in a draw.

The last Great Britain and Ireland team to win away from home in 2001 included current Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald, former US Open champion Graeme McDowell and Sky Sports Golf presenter Nick Doherty.
