Thorbjorn Olesen hits most holes in one at TPC Twin Cities to share first place in the 3M Open heading into the deciding round; watch the 3M Open live on Sky Sports Golf and the 2025 Ryder Cup from September 26-28.
Highlights from Day 3 of the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, where Akshay Bhatia and Thorbjorn Olesen took the lead.
Torbjorn Olesen shot a par-three-eighths 67 on Saturday at the 3M Open to share first place in the third round with Akshay Bhatia.
Olesen, a 35-year-old Dane who led after the second round, used a six-iron on the 209-yard eighth shot at TPC Twin Cities.
“It was a reverse putter. I just thought the seven wasn't going to make it, so we went with the soft sixth iron,” Olesen said. “The slope was definitely perfect, and it was nice to see the ball go in. I haven't had that in a long time.”
Bhatia had 63 to serve out the first serve at 18-0.

“I put the ball in play twice, made a lot of putts,” Bhatia said. “A lot of putts went out of bounds, which was nice to see. Overall, it was a pretty strong round. I thought I played well in the rough today. The tee shot wasn’t great, but luckily the greens were soft enough to allow that.”
Kurt Kitayama tied the tournament and field record with 60 points, finishing 17 points behind Olesen and Jake Knapp, who started in the final group. His countryman Takumi Kanaya (65) also finished 17 points behind Knapp (67) and Sam Stevens (66).
Watch Torbjorn Olesen hit an ace during the 3M Open on Saturday, March 8 at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota.
After a hole-in-one, Olesen made bogey on No. 9. Over his final nine shots, he made birdies on Nos. 13 and 14, three-putted on No. 15, made birdie on No. 4 on No. 16, and parred the last two. The eight-time European Tour champion is seeking his first PGA Tour title.
“It’s definitely something special and it’s a big opportunity,” Olesen said. “I’m not going to lie, the pressure will be huge, but I feel like I’ve handled it pretty well in my career. Winning the DP World Tour, of course, but also the Ryder Cup.”
Bhatia, a 23-year-old California golfer and two-time PGA Tour winner, made birdie from 42 feet on No. 5 and another from 55 feet on No. 11.
“I'm just trying to play consistent golf and hope I get lucky tomorrow,” Bhatia said.
Kitayama matched Adam Svensson's first-round total, and Paul Goydos also tied him for the course record with 60 at the 2017 3M Championship on the PGA Tour Champions. Kitayama had 12 birdies and a bogey. He finished the front nine seven-under 28.
“I just went out there,” Kitayama said. “I don't think you have to set a specific number of points before each round, just take what you can get.”
