Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on Friday that General Alexus Grynkewich confirmed American expertise that Russia will be ready for confrontation with Europe as early as 2027. There is no reason for us to scare each other, but we must be truly vigilant and focused, the Prime Minister emphasized.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk met on Friday with American General Alexus Grynkewich, who recently became the commander of NATO forces in Europe. Following the meeting, Tusk posted a short video on the X platform.
He noted that General Grynkewich is, in a sense, “our compatriot,” as his ancestors hail from the former Polish territories. Tusk reported that the general confirmed American expertise. “He recently spoke about this in Europe, saying that Russia will be ready to confront Europe, and therefore us, as early as 2027,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
He recalled that on Friday the Council of Ministers adopted the National Security Strategy, and he himself had the opportunity to talk on Friday with the outgoing head of MI6, i.e. the British intelligence service, and the new head of MI6.
“All these meetings, conversations, and decisions are focused on one thing: Poland must be ready, Poland must be well prepared, the Polish army must be well equipped, and the situation in Poland must be stable so that we are ready for any scenario. There is no reason for us to scare each other, but we must be truly vigilant and focused,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

– That is why I will make decisions that will take into account, above all, security, including internal security and political stability within our country, because there is nothing more valuable than the security of the Polish family, the Polish state – said Tusk.
General Grynkewich's visit to Poland follows his recent comments, in which he expressed concern that the US and the European Union have a year and a half to prepare for a potential global armed conflict with China and Russia, and that 2027 could be a year of crisis.
In his opinion, Beijing and Moscow could strike simultaneously and in a coordinated manner. If Chinese leader Xi Jinping decides to take military action against Taiwan, he “will likely coordinate it with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, which creates the possibility of a global conflict,” Grynkewich said during a defense conference in Wiesbaden, Germany, where NATO's Security Assistance and Training Command for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is located.
Gen. Grynkewich is a seasoned American fighter pilot and Middle East operations commander with significant experience within NATO and the Pentagon. He assumed the position of Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) in early July from Gen. Christopher Cavoli.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk met on Friday with American General Alexus Grynkewich, who recently became the commander of NATO forces in Europe, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister reported.
Grynkewich was also met in Warsaw on Friday by, among others, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski.
The Prime Minister's office announced the meeting between Donald Tusk and General Grynkewich on platform X.
Special Services Coordinator Tomasz Siemoniak later announced that he also joined the Prime Minister's conversation with General Alexis Grynkewich. “A strong confirmation of the Polish-American alliance and close cooperation between our special services,” he emphasized.
Earlier on Friday, government spokesman Adam Szłapka was asked about Prime Minister Tusk's meeting with General Grynkewich. He assessed that information about the possible threat from China and Russia raises our awareness to the highest level. “There is no doubt that the Polish government operates in a formula that requires us to be ready for the most difficult scenarios at all times,” he noted.
“Hence, almost 5% of GDP is allocated to defense. Hence the Eastern Shield and the persuasion of our partners in the European Union to invest absolutely in defense infrastructure. Hence the Iron Defender exercises, which will soon be taking place in Poland, one of the largest this year,” Szłapka said. He added that the government must work according to the principle that if you want peace, you must be prepared in any situation.
