President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that NATO can respond to Russia's drone incident in Poland in a way that does not drag the Alliance into war. According to him, this requires the transfer of new weapons to Ukraine, reports “European Truth”.
“We all understand why he (Putin) is doing this. He's checking the temperature. He said, the isolation has passed a little – can we do it again? We can,” Zelensky said at the annual Yalta European Strategy meeting in Kyiv.
Zelensky agrees that NATO is avoiding involvement in the Russian-Ukrainian war and has reasons to respond to Russia in a way that avoids being drawn into the war. But the West can respond to the Russians both safely and effectively, the president assured.
“Strong answers are needed. For example, we will give Ukraine the weapons that Ukraine has never had. And these weapons will reach – not through drones, but through the factories that produce these drones. And this is not about NATO, this is about Ukraine,” he pointed out.
In addition, Zelensky called the West's efforts to restrict exports to Russia of products used by the Russians as components for the production of missiles or other weapons insufficient.
Earlier, Donald Trump said that in the incident with drones in Poland he was not going to “protect anyone” except Poland. According to him, even though the drones were shot down, “you still shouldn't be near Poland.”
Analyst Petro Gerasimenko emphasizes that Russian drones in Polish airspace are a well-thought-out operation by the Russian Federation, which pursues several goals. In particular, Russia seeks to create conditions for stopping the transfer of air defense equipment to Ukraine and force Poland to reduce its logistical participation in the military support of our country.
