A doctor accused of providing Matthew Perry with ketamine for months before his overdose has agreed to plead guilty, according to information from authorities released Monday.
Dr. Salvador Plasencia has agreed to plead guilty to four charges of distributing ketamine, federal prosecutors said.
They said the maximum penalty for pleading guilty could be 40 years in prison, and Plasencia is expected to enter a plea in the coming weeks.
Plasencia and the woman accused of dealing ketamine became central figures in the case after three other defendants, including another doctor, agreed to plead guilty in exchange for cooperation.
Plasencia's trial was scheduled to begin in August.
Perry passed away on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54.
