Inter Milan beat Barcelona in thrilling clash to reach Champions League final

Inter were able to regain the lead in the closing stages of the game, beating Barcelona 4-3 in extra time after a tense match at the San Siro, which allowed them to reach their second Champions League final in three seasons.

Just six days after a thrilling 3-3 draw in the first leg in Barcelona, the teams produced another classic performance, with Inter on the brink of defeat with three minutes of stoppage time remaining.

However, defender Francesco Acerbi, acting as an emergency striker, tapped in Denzel Dumfries' pass and then Davide Frattesi brought on substitute Mehdi Taremi in the 99th minute to spark excitement at the San Siro.

Inter enjoyed a significant lead at half-time thanks to goals from Lautaro Martinez and a penalty from Hakan Calhanoglu, but Barcelona, who were also two goals down in the first leg, equalised when Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo scored to reward their growing dominance.

Rafinha scored with three minutes left in regulation time after Yann Sommer made an early save to give Barcelona their first lead of the game.

However, Inter won 7-6 on aggregate over the two legs, equalling the record for most goals scored in a Champions League semi-final, and will now face either Arsenal or Paris Saint-Germain in the final in Munich.

Barcelona were determined to release dangerous Lamine Yamal at every attacking opportunity, but Inter focused on the 17-year-old and kept him at bay in the first half.

Yamal fired a harmless shot straight at Sommer, while Marcus Thuram fired a weak shot towards the opposition goal before Inter came alive.

Dumfries made a run down the right to Nicolo Barella and the Italian midfielder lobbed the ball over the head of Inigo Martinez to test Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Barcelona were soon caught off guard by Inter's pressing as Federico Dimarco took possession, found Dumfries and slotted home Martinez's easy opener with a free pass.

The VAR system was activated to check a possible penalty
