Declan Rice has said Arsenal need to show “great courage” to create the biggest night in the club's history by overcoming the odds to beat Paris Saint-Germain and secure a place in the Champions League final.
Arsenal head into the semi-final second leg against the French champions trailing by a goal after Ousmane Dembele's early goal at the Emirates a week ago.
The Gunners spent much of the first leg playing catch-up but Rice is confident the Londoners have “no fear” and can overcome PSG to reach their first Champions League final in almost two decades.
“We need to be brave, go out on the biggest stage and show that we are ready to play at the highest level,” Rice said ahead of Wednesday's game at the Parc des Princes.
“If we get through to the final it will be the biggest night in the club’s history, so we are fully prepared for the occasion.
“It’s important to have complete belief and we definitely have that as a team because the coach instills that in us every day and if we are the best version of ourselves – and we know we can be – nothing can stop us from getting to the final.
“You can’t reach the semi-finals in Paris without faith and courage.
“We need to make these huge steps to win. We have a big step tomorrow night and we are really encouraged by the fact that the final is in 90 minutes.
“We are here to win the match, make a statement and reach the final. We have achieved great success in the past and we are ready to do it again.
“In the second match of the group stage, we beat PSG 2-0, and it was the same team, except for Dembele, (Khvicha) Kvaratskhelia and others. So there is no fear. We are sure that we belong to this level.”
Rice led Arsenal into the semi-finals with two successful set-pieces against Real Madrid at the Emirates. He added: “The manager calls these moments magical and in that game against Real I scored two free-kicks.
“But tomorrow's semi-final is set up so that someone else will get that magical moment. You need that magical moment and hopefully we can create something special.”
