Judd Trump on top as Ronnie O'Sullivan takes Crucible lead

Judd Trump moved confidently into the next round of the World Snooker Championship at the Crucible with a 6-3 victory over China's Zhou Yuelong.

The world number one, still looking to add to her only title of 2019, threatened to crush her opponent with a 117-point break to take a 5-1 lead.

However, the 35-year-old found himself in a tighter battle later in the session and Zhou was rewarded for an aggressive start to the final frame with a break of 95 to give him hope heading into the final match on Wednesday night.

Ronnie O'Sullivan also has work to do as 'The Rocket' managed to hold on to a one-frame lead after a poor first session against old rival Ali Carter.

The seven-time champion, who returned to the tour after hanging up his stick in a Champions League defeat in January, looked to have snatched a 6-3 lead.

However, Carter struck a serious blow after O'Sullivan hit a long red into the top corner in the final frame of the day to gradually reduce a 51-point deficit and confidently score a goal back to reduce his overnight deficit to 5-4.
