Poczta Polska plans to introduce a remuneration system for couriers, “focused on efficiency” and the possibility of B2B cooperation, as well as the implementation of advanced IT systems that will help, among other things, control fuel costs, the operator said in a statement on Tuesday.
Poczta Polska has announced that it will soon introduce a number of changes related to the new transport and fleet management system. The plan is to switch to a model based on the “Make or Buy” analysis, where decisions about fleet ownership or outsourcing of transport services will be made based on an analysis of actual costs and operational efficiency.
The company also announced the introduction of a “performance-oriented” remuneration system for couriers and the possibility of B2B cooperation , which is to increase the motivation and commitment of drivers. Another announced change is the implementation of modern TMS (Transport Management System) and SMP (Vehicle Monitoring System) tools in order to optimize routes, better manage drivers' working time and strengthen control of fuel costs.
“The implementation of the new transport management strategy will allow for achieving positive effects in quality and cost optimization, thus laying the foundation for a new quality of Poczta Polska's operations in the CEP area (courier, express and postal shipments – PAP)” – indicated Tomasz Swat, director of the logistics department of Poczta Polska, quoted in the press release.
As he added, Poczta Polska uses about 7.5 thousand cars, of which 5 thousand are its own fleet and 2.5 thousand belong to partners – subcontractors. The operator has various types of cars at its disposal: from small ones used by postmen, through courier vans up to 3.5 tons, large cars up to 12 tons, to those of the largest category, i.e. over 12 tons; the offer also includes full truckload transport and pallet transport – emphasized Swat. According to the announcement, these cars cover a total of 165 million km per year.
The flagship and most popular parcel service is Pocztex – it was indicated. On average, every week this year, customers sent over a million parcels using it, and over 95 percent of them reached the recipient the next day after sending – it was noted. “This means maintaining the so-called D+1 standard, the most desired on the market” – assessed Poczta.
The timeliness of economy and priority postal parcels amounted to 98-99 percent, and the timeliness of priority letters (D+3) remains at 94 percent – the operator emphasized.
The new transport and fleet management system was introduced in January this year and is part of the Polish Post Transformation Plan. As part of the Plan, the management prepared a strategy for 2025-2027, which assumes activities in key areas of the operator's operations, such as IT, e-services for business and citizens, as well as changes to the offer available in branches and logistics.
Poczta Polska is a company of the State Treasury, employs about 62 thousand people; its network includes 7.6 thousand branches, branches and postal agencies throughout the country. (PAP)
