Zelensky from Ukraine in Britain to meet Starmer and King Charles

On Saturday, Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and on Sunday he will meet with King Charles, showing support for the Ukrainian leader, whom Donald Trump publicly criticized in front of the world's media at the White House.

Zelensky flew to Britain from the United States on Saturday morning to attend an expanded summit of European leaders on Sunday to discuss a peace plan for Ukraine.

At an emergency meeting in the Oval Office on Friday, Trump threatened to cut off aid to Ukraine three years after Russia began invading its smaller neighbor and after Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron appeared to have successfully held meetings with Trump to persuade him to continue supporting Kyiv.

Shortly after the talks, European leaders issued statements of support for Zelensky and Ukraine, underscoring the deep rift between traditional U.S. allies and Europe over the conflict following Trump's possible return to power.

On Friday, Starmer spoke to Trump and Zelensky, expressing his “unwavering support” for Ukraine.

Zelensky was due to meet Starmer at his Downing Street office on Saturday evening. A spokesman for the Ukrainian president said he would also meet King Charles on Sunday.
