I use it as fuel: Lewis Hamilton not worried about criticism after Ferrari move

Lewis Hamilton has revealed that criticism after his Ferrari's final race has inspired him ahead of his full debut for the Italian team at Formula 1's final round in Australia next month.

Hamilton set the sixth fastest time in the final test in Bahrain, completing 47 laps, which increased his weekly total to 162 laps, the equivalent of almost three race distances.

Hamilton, who turned 40 in January, joined Ferrari after 12 seasons with Mercedes but his results in recent years with the Silver Arrows have left much to be desired.

An interview with Time magazine published on Thursday quoted former Formula One team owner Eddie Jordan as saying that replacing Carlos Sainz with Hamilton would be “absolute suicide” for Ferrari.

The seven-time world champion said in an interview: “I always take the negativity. I never react to comments from older, mostly white men, who comment on my career and what they think I should do. The way you look, the way you present yourself and the way you perform dissipates that over time.”

Commenting on his comments in Bahrain on Friday, Hamilton added: “I haven't actually had time to look into the story, but I heard it was quite successful.

“Of course, in our sport, criticism is something that everyone gets. I've probably gotten more than I've ever gotten in my entire career.
