Ronda Rousey has continually come to the rescue of Natalya on Raw – but will it reach a point where her gratitude turns to jealousy?

If WWE history has taught us anything, it is that all great friendships come to a devastating end.

Triple H and Shawn Michaels, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. And more recently in NXT, Tomasso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano.

Those are three feuds that have ended up with a best friend being stabbed in the back. So are we beginning to see the foundations being set for the next big break-up between two friends in the women’s division?

After being drafted from SmackDown to Raw in the superstar shake-up a couple of weeks ago, Natalya and Ronda Rousey’s friendship has been showcased on Monday nights.

Natalya played a key part in Rousey’s transition from UFC to WWE, working as her training partner to enable a smooth move between the two fields.

So it is no surprise that Rousey has come to the rescue of Natalya on three separate occasions when the odds have been stacked against the Queen of Hearts.

First an ambush from Absolution was seen off and then last week, Mickie James on Raw sampled the famous Rousey arm bar. This week it was Alexa Bliss – still very high on the WWE power rankings – who was run off by the former UFC champion.

In clinical fashion, Rousey made light work of both Sonya Deville and James and helped Natalya to the back. For now it would seem Natalya has her own knight in shining armour in Rousey. But how long will that last?

Rousey enjoyed one of the best WrestleMania debuts of all time last month

It is a friendship in WWE that is simmering ever so well with the prospect of Natalya eventually turning on Rousey a mouth-watering prospect.

After all, if you look closely at Natalya’s reaction at being helped to the back by Rousey, the look on Natalya’s face could be interpreted as a look of a woman who didn’t need Rousey’s help. How long will it be before she snaps and her gratitude to Rousey turns into jealousy?

“A woman who has just burst onto the scene, thinking I need her help? I trained her, I have been in this business longer than you have and furthermore my family is of legendary status, what have you done in WWE?”

This could be the reasoning and the mindset of a Natalya turn on Rousey that could reach boiling point between the two and become one of the main matches on a SummerSlam card in August if built slowly and correctly.

Coming off arguably one of the greatest WWE debuts in history at WrestleMania, if Rousey is in search of a great story and the perfect first singles opponent then it is elite performer Natalya.

Just ask Charlotte, who has had some of the best one-on-one encounters with Natalya over the years, stemming back from their match for the NXT women’s title at NXT Takeover in 2016.

Natalya has the quality inside of the squared circle, and is one of the best in-ring technicians in the women’s division. There is little doubt she will be able to put on a five-star match with Rousey and not only increase Rousey’s stock in WWE but her own in the process.

The growing friendship between Rousey and Natalya is one to keep your eyes close on, until what is surely the inevitable happens…
