Trump: I Won't Meet Kim Jong Un Unless Summit Promises Success

Speaking at the Mar-a-Lago with the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe on Wednesday, the US President Donald trump said that he would not take part in the summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong UN if the meeting is likely to bear fruit.

The revelation that the two leaders agreed to meet is made for use in explosive news when it was announced last month, as this will be the first meeting the US President and the leader of the DPRK after the end of active hostilities in the Korean war.

Trump noted that the Director of the CIA Mike Pompeo, who is now his Secretary of state and candidate, recently met with Kim and “worked” on the question of the return of the three American citizens detained in North Korea.

“I hope for a very successful meeting. If we don’t think it will be successful, we will not be there, it will not. If I think that this meeting will not be fruitful, we’re not going to go,” trump told reporters at the Mar-a-Lago briefing.

“If the meeting — when I was there — not productive, I respectfully leave the meeting, and we will continue what we do,” he added.

“There is a bright way to North Korea, when it reaches the denuclearization in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner,” said trump, adding that “maximum pressure campaign” will continue “until North Korea denuclearizes.”

Historic U.S.-North Korea summit, expected to take place in the coming weeks. It is expected that leaders will discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

On Tuesday, trump announced that the high-level talks between Washington and Pyongyang. Shortly afterwards, White house sources revealed that Pompeo went to North Korea where he met Kim Jong-UN.

During the press conference, Abe said that Japan and the United States agreed to start new trade negotiations to reduce the annual trade deficit of the USA in Tokyo. The Prime Minister said that he was “extremely fruitful talks in a relaxed atmosphere” within two days with the trump.
