It was a dramatic weekend in the Scottish Premiership with the title race hotting up after Celtic’s unbeaten run came to an end.

Kilmarnock take two places in the latest team of the week after coming from behind to stun Brendan Rodgers’ side with a 2-1 win at Rugby Park.

Rangers are now five points behind the leaders, with a game in hand, after they beat Dundee 3-1 and three players make the best XI.

Aberdeen have two players represented after they scored in stoppage time to pick up a crucial 2-1 win over Hearts, who also take one place.

Two St Mirren players are included after they ended a three-game losing run with a 2-0 win at home to Ross County and Hibs take the final place after they won 1-0 at Livingston.

Striker Jonah Ayunga was the star performer in the victory, netting his first and the Buddies’ second in the 56th minute. Daniel Armstrong played a key role in the victory as evidenced by a rating of 8.33 having registered the assist for what proved to be Matthew Kennedy’s 87th-minute winner. Hibernian earned a smash-and-grab 1-0 win at Livingston over the weekend and they have Paul Hanlon to thank for earning all the spoils. Martin Boyle may have grabbed the decisive goal midway through the first half but Hanlon was on hand to keep the Livingston offensive at bay. The 33-year-old made 16 clearances and won 11 aerial duels in a solid rearguard display at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

2. James Tavernier (Rangers) – 8.51 rating

Rangers ended the weekend just five points off league leaders and rivals Celtic as they beat Dundee 3-1 at Ibrox on Saturday. Gers captain James Tavernier was directly involved in two of Rangers’ three goals, putting Philippe Clement’s side ahead midway through the first half from the spot before turning provider for Abdallah Sima 10 minutes before the break from respective returns of two shots and three key passes.
