Saturday sport: New Leinster hurling and football champions; Leinster head to the Showgrounds

Rugby

Leinster are doing battle with Connacht looking to return to the top of the URC table this evening.

There’s around 20 minutes to go at the Sportsground and it’s Connacht 8 Leinster 7 – David Hawkshaw and Charlie Ngatai with the tries

The Blues would go above Glasgow with a victory. Two tries in the final ten minutes saw Ulster rescue a losing bonus point at home to Edinburgh.

The Scots came away from Belfast with a 27 to 24 point win.

In the day’s earlier game, Ulster host Edinburgh from 5.15pm.

GAA

O’Loughlin Gaels are the Leinster Club Hurling champions, while Kilmacud Crokes have been crowned Leinster Club Football champions.

In the hurling final, the Kilkenny side came from behind to beat Na Fianna of Dublin 0-22 to 1-18 in the decider.

Kilmacud Crokes have become the first team to win the Leinster Club Football final three times in a row.

They pushed on in a tough second half to get the better of Naas on a 1-14 to 0-10 scoreline.

A goal from Shane Walsh on the cusp of full-time cemented the win, and earning him Man of the Match.

Both finals were played at Croke Park.

Galway’s Sarsfields will play Dicksboro of Kilkenny in the All-Ireland Camogie Club Championship final.

The Galway champions got past their namesakes from Cork by 2-10 to 1-06 in Mallow.

Dicksboro had to come from behind to beat Loughgiel Shamrocks of Antrim by 2-13 to 1-10.

Soccer

Arsenal have extended their lead at the top of the Premier League this evening. They had to hold on to get the better of Wolves 2-1 at the Emirates.

The Gunners are four points clear of Manchester City who play Tottenham tomorrow.

Elsewhere, Burnley found their scoring boots in a 5-0 victory over Sheffield United.

Brentford held on to beat Luton 3-1 at the G-Tech Stadium.

Later at 5.30pm, Everton head to Nottingham Forest,
