McLaren drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris will resume the season just nine points behind the F1 title; Formula 1 returns with the Dutch Grand Prix on August 29-31, live on Sky Sports F1
Watch Oscar Piastri's on-board camera as he tries to take the win from Lando Norris in the final two laps of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Nico Rosberg believes Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are “on equal footing” in pure skill at McLaren, but the latter retains a “scary” advantage in the tight battle for the 2025 Formula 1 title.
The McLaren team-mates went into the Formula 1 summer break sitting at the top of the standings by just nine points following Norris' tough but impressive victory over championship leader Piastri at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
McLaren have finished first and second in each of the last four races – a sequence just one place shy of the all-time Formula 1 record. That race saw them pull away from reigning champion Max Verstappen in the standings and effectively secure their place in the Drivers’ Championship fight for the final 10 races when the season resumes at the Dutch Grand Prix on August 29-31.

The 25-year-old Norris, who comfortably beat the slightly younger Piastri in each of his first two seasons with McLaren, began the season as favourite for the title but it is the Australian who has led the standings since winning the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in April.
And speaking on a recent episode of The F1 Show, Sky Sports F1's Nico Rosberg said of the infighting at McLaren: “You can't say Lando's any quicker any more.
“At some point we have to stop talking like that because there is no longer any basis for it.
“Oscar has always been incredibly fast and I can see that they are on equal terms.
“The fate of the champion depends on Lando's state of mind. Unfortunately, that's the impression I got. The question is, how stable can Lando be?
“I know he's working on it, blocking social media and all that.”

Along with the narrow points lead, Piastri also leads Norris 8-6 in their 2025 qualifying head-to-heads – a stark turnaround from 2024, when the 24-year-old beat the Briton in qualifying just four times all season.
Earlier this season, Norris had to endure several race weekends marred by costly qualifying mistakes, and in Canada he also crashed into the back of Piastri, which cost him a costly points-free race.
