Newcastle striker Alexander Isak has been named in Sweden's squad for next month's matches.
Isak, who has made clear his intention to leave the north-east English club despite having a three-year contract, is included in the 24-man list announced by manager Jon Dahl Tomasson on Wednesday for the World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Kosovo on September 5 and 8.
The forward trained individually after refusing to take part in the team's pre-season tour of Singapore and South Korea.
Arsenal's new signing Victor Dioceres was also included in the squad.
Liverpool's £110m bid for Isak has been rejected, while Newcastle value the player at around £150m.
On August 20, the footballer released a statement: “When commitments are not fulfilled and trust is lost, cooperation cannot continue.
This is my current situation, so the changes are beneficial for all parties, not just me.”
In response, the club stated: “We emphasize that the agreement with Alex remains in effect. The management has never given any guarantees about the player's possible departure this summer.”
According to sources, after this, the club representatives held talks with Isak, but his attitude remained the same.
The national team's head coach Tomasson commented on the player's call-up: “I am glad that Alexander is eager to participate in the games. He is an exceptional footballer.
“His circumstances are far from ideal and he has not trained with the team. But he is able to determine the outcome of games and wants to help us. Qualifying for the World Cup is extremely important to him.”
The current situation has prompted Newcastle to look for alternatives in the attacking line.
Newcastle have made an improved £55m bid for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, but the Midlands club have again turned it down, PA news agency reports.
Sources claim that the Wolves have absolutely no plans to part with the player.
One of the confirmed transfers was Matt Targett's loan move to Middlesbrough, which was officially confirmed on Wednesday morning.
