Robbie Fowler praises Mohamed Salah's 'unbelievable' start to life at Liverpool
Mohamed Salah’s quick start to life at Liverpool is “frightening”, says former Anfield star Robbie Fowler.
The forward, who moved for £34.3m from Roma in June, is the Premier League’s second-top scorer with 22 goals, one behind Harry Kane.
Fowler believes Salah, who has scored 30 times in all competitions this season, will be looking to add 10 more goals to his tally before the end of the campaign and says he could help guide Liverpool to silverware in the near future.

Speaking at a charity event for Red Neighbours, which focusses on food poverty and education, Fowler told Sky Sports News: “That is the aim of his [to reach 40 goals], it’s unbelievable what he’s achieved so far.
“I don’t think anyone could’ve envisaged what would’ve happened. I think everyone knew he was a good player, but to get where he is at the speed he’s done – it’s frightening.
“I’m a Liverpool fan, I want Liverpool to score loads of goals, I want him to score loads of goals. I want Liverpool to be successful and if he keeps doing that it means we are on to something pretty good.”
Salah and Kane look set to battle it out for the Golden Boot until the end of the season, but Fowler feels the Spurs striker can seek Premier League goalscoring records beyond this term, saying he could surpass Alan Shearer’s 260 goal haul if he remains in England.

“If he gets anywhere near [Shearer’s record], he’s done remarkably well,” he added. “The performances to date have been exceptional, he looks as though he’s a player that can score goals all of the time.
“He’s gone past the first-year, second-year syndrome, but to get where Alan Shearer is I mean that’s tough, it really is. Obviously, you are relying on him to stay in the Premier League [to break the record]. I’m sure Tottenham wouldn’t allow him to go to another Premier League club, they wouldn’t want him to leave full stop.
“I think that’s where it lies, if he stays at Tottenham in the Premier League he has got a very good chance because he’s got a lot of good goals in him.”
