Man Utd interest in signing Fred no surprise to Brazil coach Tite

Brazil coach Tite is not surprised Jose Mourinho wants to bring Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred to Manchester United.

Sky Sports News understands Fred will undergo a medical on Monday with a view to completing his move to Manchester United.

Fred featured as an 82nd-minute substitute in Brazil’s 2-0 friendly win over Croatia at Anfield on Sunday.

Tite is keen for Fred’s future to be resolved so the 25-year-old can concentrate on the World Cup.

“When this happens, and it is inevitable, they are going to come to us and our advice to them is resolve this as soon as you can so your head is back with us and focusing on the national team,” Tite said.

The Brazil boss later added: “If I was a manager I’d ask to sign him as well.”

Fred joined Ukrainian club Shakhtar from Brazilian side Internacional in 2013 and was the subject of interest from Manchester City in January.

However, Pep Guardiola has shifted his attention to Italy international Jorginho this summer and City are in advanced talks with Napoli to sign the midfielder.

Brazil will play another friendly, against Austria in Vienna, on June 10 before heading to Russia where they will face Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia in Group E.
