Luis Diaz became an instant star after scoring to help Bayern win the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup. Adam Bate was in Stuttgart for Sky Sports and then spoke to Harry Kane to find out why he thinks the former Liverpool winger can make a difference.

Luis Diaz described it as a “stunning” night as he scored a vital second goal to help Bayern hold on for a 2-1 win over Stuttgart in the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup, showing why Bayern wanted him.
Liverpool's fee this summer could rise to £64.7m, which may seem a little steep for a winger who turns 29 in January. But Diaz's return home has only underlined the contribution the Colombian can make to Bayern.
On the face of it, Bayern had plenty of great players to use on the flanks last season. With fans used to seeing such talented players in those positions, the bar is high for Diaz to deliver an impressive performance against the Bundesliga champions.

However, if we look deeper, there is hope that he can make a difference at critical moments. For example, although Kingsley Coman, now of Al Nasr, scored nine times last season, all of his goals came in victories where he did not need to score.
The overall score in these matches was 36-2.
Leroy Sane, who joined Galatasaray, scored twice in Bayern's 3-2 win against St. Pauli, but that was the only game Bayern won thanks to his goals. Diaz has already proven his ability to make a difference, and as Harry Kane explains, that's what he can bring to the team.
Asked about it after the match, Kane said: “I think you see him in one-on-one situations on the wing. Very sharp, very clever. I think his main asset, and probably what will be very important for us this year, is that he scores goals like he did today.”
Kane added: “He gets into the box, makes runs and finishes really well. I think it's important for wingers, especially in modern football, to score hopefully 15 or 20 goals a season. The goal was a great run and a great finish.”

The England captain continued: “He's been unlucky with a couple of goals in this game. It's a big confidence boost for him. Scoring in your first competitive game for a new club is great and scoring the winner is the perfect start for him.”
Kane certainly didn't get off to such a perfect start on his Bayern debut two summers ago, when he was involved in a shock 3-0 home Supercup defeat to RB Leipzig. His transfer was not completed until the early hours of that morning.
