Liverpool agree €47m deal for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez

Liverpool are set to increase their summer investment to £185m after agreeing a £40m (€47m) move for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez.

The move had been talked about for some time, with the Cherries initially asking for £45m (€53m) but the PA news agency understands a compromise has been reached and the defender will now play at Anfield.

Kerkez, 21, is seen as a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson. The Scotland international, who is in the final year of his contract, is also being sought by Atletico Madrid but Liverpool are not keen on letting him go.

Hungarian defender Kerkez will become the club's third signing of the season, with Jeremie Frimpong already signed and his Bayer Leverkusen team-mate Florian Wirtz in the final stages of agreeing a UK-record £116m (€136m) deal after arriving on Merseyside for a medical on Thursday.

With Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Marmadashvili due to join next month and the Valencia deal agreed a year ago, manager Arne Slot will have £215m (€251m) of new players available to defend the Premier League title.

The signings may not end there, however, as Bayer are interested in fourth-priority 22-year-old centre-back Jarrell Quansah in a £34m (€40m) deal that is entirely separate from the deal to send Wirtz in the opposite direction, so Liverpool will be looking for another centre-back.

Crystal Palace's England international Marc Guehi, who has a year left on his contract, is also on the club's radar, but there are other teams interested in signing him.
