Lewis Hamilton says 'big, big effort' he's making to help Ferrari 'improve'
Lewis Hamilton has said he is “making a significant effort” to make changes at Ferrari as he “has no intention” of becoming another star driver who fails to win a world championship with the team.
His debut season with the Italian team was largely unsuccessful: in the first 12 races in the red jersey he failed to reach the podium, and the SF-25 model did not live up to pre-season expectations that this car would be able to fight for the title.
However, the seven-time world champion remains confident of his ability to succeed in his high-profile move from Mercedes and said ahead of this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix, which will be shown live on Sky Sports, that he had spent the last two weeks submitting paperwork and holding meetings with key figures at the team's Maranello factory.

Hamilton said on Thursday: “I've been at the factory a few days a week. Of course we talk about how the last race went and what we need to change.”
I had a lot of meetings. I had a lot of meetings with the team principals, including John (Elkann), Benedetto (Vigna), Fred (Vasseur), the team principal. I also had a few meetings with the head of car development, Luik (Serra), and with the heads of the different departments. We discussed the engine for next year, the suspension for next year, what is needed, and the problems I have with this car.

“I've been sending documents for a year. After the first few races, I prepared a full package of documents for the team. Then, during this break, I sent two more documents. And now I'm here to sort them out.
“Some of it was about structural changes that we need to make as a team to improve all the aspects that we want to improve, and some of it was about the current issues that I had with the car this year. Some of it can be carried over to next year's car, and some of it will need to be changed for next year.”
“I tested the 2026 car for the first time and started working on it. The engineers come into the room, sit down and discuss all the details, so it's a very, very important step.”
“I will do my best!”
Ferrari's last trophy was the Constructors' Championship in 2008, while its last Drivers' Championship victory was won a year earlier by Kimi Raikkonen.
Since then, neither Fernando Alonso nor Sebastian Vettel have been able to add to their titles they won elsewhere while driving for Ferrari, while Raikkonen has also failed to repeat his second stint with the team.
Hamilton's teammate Charles Leclerc has been driving for the team for seven seasons now, but he has failed to ensure a stable fight for the championship.
Asked if he could provide further details on the documents he had submitted, Hamilton explained his ambition to win a record eighth world title in the final stages of his career.
