James Maddison has expressed his support for Ange Postecoglou, who has emerged as a 'winner' despite ongoing speculation over the Tottenham manager's future.
The 28-year-old midfielder confirmed his impressions of the manager as he inspired his side to Europa League glory with a 1-0 win against Manchester United in Bilbao.
Speaking at his charity golf tournament at the Centurion Club, Maddison told Sky Sports: “He's a guy who always gets results and, to be honest, his greatest strength is his belief in what he does and that belief has rubbed off on us, particularly in Europe this year.
“In all the away games and even in the early stages of the group stage and the last 16 we played quite poorly away against AZ Alkmaar and he put a lot of pressure on us because you know he is the winner, but then we turned the game around in the return leg and got to the quarter-finals.
“With every step we took we got closer and our faith grew, and now we are the winners, and no one can take that away from him.”
Maddison added: “He's been brilliant. Even at the start of the season he said, 'I don't usually win anything, I always win' and that's true.
“We knew it would cause a lot of media talk, and you just couldn't get over it. Honestly, I never doubted that he meant it.”
