The triumph in Indian Wells included a victory over Carlos Alcaraz, but he was unable to repeat the success in Miami, losing to Jakub Mensik in the opening match.

He lost to Casper Ruud in a three-set match in the fight for his second Masters 1000 title, but the tournament was an important milestone: Draper entered the top 5 of the world rankings, overtaking Novak Djokovic.
At the Italian Open he left the tournament in the quarterfinals, losing to Alcaraz, and at Roland Garros he was stopped by Alexander Bublik in the fourth round.
