Ireland to face Belgium in Women's Nations League playoffs

The Republic of Ireland women's team will play Belgium in a play-off in October for promotion or relegation in the Nations League.

Carla Ward's side finished second in Group B, behind Slovenia on goal difference.

Belgium finished third in Group A, behind Spain and England but ahead of Portugal.

Belgium qualified for the European Championship this summer by beating Greece and Ukraine in the playoffs.

The first meeting will take place on October 28 in Ireland, and four days later Carla Ward's team will travel to Belgium.

Promotion to League A ensures at least participation in the playoffs of the 2027 World Cup qualifiers.

Ireland will return to action when they face the United States twice this month in friendlies in Colorado and Ohio.
