Gareth Bale says he is '100 per cent sure' he cannot become a professional golfer.
The former Real Madrid and Wales star is known for his passion for golf and has reduced his handicap from “three or four” to just 0.1 since retiring from football in January 2023.
That has sparked speculation that Bale, who competed in the PGA Tour's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am where footage of his magnificent putt went viral, may consider turning professional despite turning 36 earlier this month.
“I am absolutely, 100 per cent sure that I will not be able to make it as a professional,” Bale told BBC Wales ahead of this week's AIG Women's Open in Royal Porthcawl.
“When you play golf and watch professional golfers perform, it’s nothing compared to your best performance.
“When I play with these athletes and watch them, I really realize how talented they really are.
“Let alone just skating with friends, they are performing under a lot of pressure, in tournament conditions, in difficult weather conditions.
“So professional (golf) will not be a reality for me.
“But I love this game. I love watching it, I love developing it.”
