With a month left of the Premier League season, very little has been decided as yet.

Manchester City have overtaken Arsenal at the top of the table and lead by one point with one game in hand.

Meanwhile, at the bottom Southampton look to be prime candidates for relegation. Ruben Selles’ Saints sit six points from safety with four games left to play.

Also in the battle to retain their top-flight status are West Ham, Leicester, Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Everton.

Championship

Champions: Burnley

Promoted: Sheffield United

Qualified for play-offs: Luton, Middlesbrough

Relegated: Blackpool, Wigan, Reading

The Championship’s automatic promotion places were secured last month, with Vincent Kompany’s Burnley winning the title and Paul Heckingbottom’s Sheffield United joining them as runners-up.

And with Luton and Middlesbrough having already secured third and fourth place, only two can join them in the end-of-season lottery.

Coventry and Millwall currently occupy fifth and sixth place, but Sunderland, West Brom and Blackburn all remain in contention just outside, with all three level on 66 points.

Millwall and Blackburn face one another on the final day at The Den, in a game which is live on Sky Sports Main Event.

Blackpool became the first team to suffer relegation from the Championship this season after a 3-2 defeat to Millwall on April 28 and Wigan followed them into League One after a 1-1 draw away at Reading the following day.

Following Huddersfield’s win over Sheffield United on Thursday night – where one point would have secured their survival – Reading were relegated, meaning they will play third-tier football for the first time since the 2001/02 Division Two campaign.

League One

Promoted: Plymouth, Ipswich

Qualified for play-offs: Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley, Bolton

Relegated: Forest Green

League One final day fixtures (all Sun 12pm KO)

  • Barnsley vs Peterborough – Live on Sky Sports Arena
  • Bristol Rovers vs Bolton
  • Burton vs MK Dons
  • Cambridge vs Forest Green
  • Cheltenham vs Charlton
  • Exeter vs Morecambe
  • Fleetwood vs Ipswich
  • Lincoln vs Shrewsbury
  • Oxford vs Accrington
  • Port Vale vs Plymouth
  • Portsmouth vs Wycombe
  • Sheffield Wednesday vs Derby – Live on Sky Sports Football

Plymouth and Ipswich secured the two automatic promotion places last weekend. Argyle beat Burton 1-0 at Home Park to ensure their Championship return after 13 seasons away, while Kieran McKenna’s Tractor Boys thumped Exeter 6-0.

The two will now battle it out on the final day to snare the title. Plymouth, who travel to Port Vale, will be champions if Ipswich fail to better their result and Ipswich, who are at Fleetwood, will be champions if they better Plymouth’s result.

Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley have secured third and fourth place respectively already, with fifth-placed Bolton also having booked their play-off place.

That means the final place will be taken by either Derby or Peterborough, who face Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday respectively. Both matches will be available to watch live across Sky Sports.

Derby will be in the play-offs if they win, but a point will be enough, providing Peterborough do not win by three goals. Peterborough will be in the play-offs if they win and Derby lose, but also if they win by three goals and Derby draw.

Sheffield Wednesday
Derby County

Sunday 7th May 11:30am Kick off 12:00pm

Barnsley
Peterborough United

Sunday 7th May 11:30am Kick off 12:00pm

At the other end of the table, only one of the bottom-four places has been confirmed so far. Forest Green suffered immediate relegation back to League Two after just six wins in their 45 league games so far, just one of which has come since December 10.

Accrington look to be as good as down, given their significantly worse goal difference than the teams around them, with MK Dons (44pts), Morecambe (44pts) and Cambridge (43pts) also fighting to retain their third-tier status.

League Two

Champions: Leyton Orient, Stevenage

Qualified for play-offs: Northampton, Stockport

Relegated: Rochdale, Hartlepool

League Two final day fixtures (all Mon 12.30pm KO)

  • Barrow vs Stevenage
  • Bradford vs Leyton Orient
  • Colchester vs Mansfield
  • Grimsby vs AFC Wimbledon

  • Newport vs Crewe
  • Salford vs Gillingham
  • Stockport vs Hartlepool – Live on Sky Sports Arena
  • Sutton vs Carlisle
  • Swindon vs Crawley
  • Tranmere vs Northampton – Live on Sky Sports Football
  • Walsall vs Doncaster

Leyton Orient were the first team promoted from League Two last month, securing the title and a return to the third tier after seven seasons away. Stevenage joined them on the penultimate weekend after a 2-0 win over Grimsby.

The battle for the final automatic promotion spot will be contested by Northampton and Stockport. A win for the Cobblers against Tranmere at Prenton Park – live on Sky Sports Football – sends them up.

Tranmere Rovers
Northampton Town

Monday 8th May 12:00pm Kick off 12:30pm

However, County will pip them should they beat Hartlepool and Northampton lose, given their superior goal difference at present. That game is live on Sky Sports Arena.

Stockport County
Hartlepool United

Monday 8th May 12:00pm Kick off 12:30pm

Four teams are jostling for the remaining three play-off spots. Carlisle, Salford and Bradford currently occupy them, having racked up 75 points each, but Mansfield are still holding on to hope of nipping in.

The first team to be relegated from League Two this season was Rochdale, whose 1-0 defeat to Stockport on April 22 saw their 102-year stay in the EFL come to its conclusion. Hartlepool then dropped out of the EFL despite a 3-1 win at home to Barrow last time out.
