Ennis set for Clare homecoming following All-Ireland victory

The Clare Senior Hurling team and the Liam MacCarthy Cup will be welcomed back to the Banner on Monday evening with a homecoming event in Ennis.

Brian Lohan’s team won the county’s fifth All-Ireland Senior Hurling title on Sunday, beating Cork by 3-29 to 1-34 after extra time.

Captain Tony Kelly put in a man of the match performance, scoring 1-4.

Kelly is the fourth Clare man to lift the MacCathy Cup for his county, joining Ambrose Power (1914), Anthony Daly (1995 & 1997) and Patrick Donnellan (2013).

The team will make their way to Ennis via Lohan’s club, Wolfe Tones GAA in Shannon, where they are expected to arrive at 4pm.

They will then continue on to Clarecastle for around 6pm, before heading on to Ennis where the homecoming event will get underway at the Fair Green from 7.30pm.

Clare GAA said updates on the day’s events will be posted on their social media channels.

Meanwhile, the Cork team will be welcomed back with an event at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The ticketed event will include live music, with gates opening at 4.30pm before the team’s arrival.
