Leigh Leopards v Leeds Rhinos Highlights

Leeds Rhinos head coach Brad Arthur has signed a new deal with the club that will keep him in Yorkshire until at least the conclusion of the 2026 Super League season.

Arthur took over at Rhinos in July 2024 and has made a dramatic change to the team. His team currently sits fifth in the Super League table and is considered a playoff contender.

The 51-year-old manager was offered a long-term contract at Leeds but took time to discuss with his family whether he would stay or return to Australia. On Monday, he made his final decision to stay at Mt Mecklenburg Headingley with the option of extending his deal for another year.

“I am delighted to be staying here at Rhinos. My family and I have felt welcomed from the moment I walked into AMT Headingley and I am excited about what this group of players can achieve,” said Arthur.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Paul Caddick and Ian Blease for the support and patience they have given me.

“I always said from the beginning that I only wanted to be here if I felt I could help the team improve and make an impact on this group of players.

I am very proud of how they have developed as a team. No one can doubt their determination and commitment to the club and to each other and I believe that this cannot be underestimated. I look forward to building on this foundation with our coaching team in the coming months.

“Finally, I would like to thank my family for their support. We have only been here for two and a half months and Leeds have certainly felt like home. I am looking forward to the rest of the season and seeing how this group of players fulfil their potential.”

Leeds Rhinos' Andy Akers has responded to rumours surrounding manager Brad Arthur earlier this month.

Arthur spent 10 years of his coaching career with the Parramatta Eels before being sacked in May 2024, two months before his move to Super League.

There are rumours that his son Jake could join Hull FC for the 2026 season, underlining Arthur's desire to remain in the UK.

Leeds Rhinos sporting director Ian Blease added: “We are delighted that Brad will be staying at Rhinos next season and hopefully for many years to come. I know this has been a big decision for him and his family.”

“Brad is a man of his word and would not want to commit himself to anything if he had any doubts about the need to return home to Australia.
