The latest on the recovery of missing centers for disease control and prevention body worker (local time):

A family of centers for disease control and prevention employee, whose body was found in the river Atlanta released a statement in which he Thanked the investigators and rescuers.

Media quoted the family statement expressed appreciation for “all the time, attention and professionalism” shown during the search for 35-year-old Timothy Cunningham.

Atlanta police and fire officials say the fishermen came across the body of Cunningham on Tuesday on the banks of the Chattahoochee river in Northwest Atlanta.

Chief medical examiner Fulton County Jan Gornyak Zheleznogorsk said Thursday at a press conference that the cause of death was drowning. She said that led to his drowning was not yet known.

Cunningham was an epidemiologist at the Atlanta Federal Agency. He disappeared Feb. 12 and his family reported him missing on Feb. 16.

Officials say his body was partially submerged in water and mud. Chief medical examiner Fulton County Jan Gornyak Zheleznogorsk said Thursday at a press conference that the cause of death was drowning. She said she is still waiting for toxicology reports to see if they could shed light on what caused him to drown.
