President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy today, September 5, during an online speech at the Ambrosetti International Economic Forum, commented on the results of the meeting of the coalition of the willing in Paris and noted a powerful “force” for pressure on Russia. He reported this on his Telegram channel.
“Despite the fact that Russia is trying to continue this war, we have already begun to build a security system that can push Russia towards peace. I cannot reveal all the details now – many of them are very sensitive and relate to the military sphere. But we are preparing a force – on the ground, in the air and at sea – that, simply working according to the plan, will put pressure on Russia to stop the war,” the president noted.
Zelensky also confirmed the words of French President Macron that the coalition of the willing includes 35 countries, and 26 of them are ready to help with real security support.
“This is a big change. These are strong countries, and Italy, of course, is one of them. President Trump confirmed: America is ready to participate,” the Ukrainian leader added.
The president noted that in the coming weeks, “we will discuss with each country what exactly they can do.”
On the eve of the meeting, French President Emmanuel Macron said that European countries are ready to provide security guarantees for Ukraine as soon as it signs a peace agreement with Russia. According to him, everything now depends on Russia's readiness for the peace proposals it previously voiced to the United States.
