US President Donald Trump said that several European leaders will visit Washington early this week to discuss ways to resolve Russia's war against Ukraine.
He told reporters about this after returning from the US Open tournament in New York.
According to Trump, the meetings will be “on Monday or Tuesday.” At the same time, he did not specify which heads of state or government plan to arrive in the United States.
The American president also said that he would hold talks with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in the near future.
Commenting on the latest events in Ukraine, Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the development of the war, particularly after the massive Russian airstrike on Sunday night.
“It's a terrible waste of human life. No, I'm not happy with what's happening there,” he said.
At the same time, the US president once again expressed confidence that it would be completed in the near future.
“I think it will be resolved. We will do it. I believe we will resolve it,” Trump said.
As a reminder, after the meeting of the “Coalition of the Willing”, French President Emmanuel Macron said that an agreement had been reached on security guarantees for Ukraine. In addition, bilateral, trilateral (USA, Russia, Ukraine) and quadrilateral negotiations are planned with the possible involvement of the European Union.
