The US envoy to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, stated that Washington anticipates Turkey, Slovakia, and Hungary to possess tangible strategies for steadily diminishing their reliance on Russian oil and natural gas. He underlined on Fox News that, as of now, Budapest is yet to formulate such strategies.

As per the ambassador, Washington stands prepared to collaborate with the neighboring nations of these countries, notably Croatia, which could aid in eliminating Russian energy commodities. He highlighted that “associates in Hungary” still have considerable tasks ahead in forsaking oil and gas sourced from Russia, and Washington is poised to offer assistance in this endeavor.

“And, predictably, this pipeline will almost certainly be cut off in the following years,” he appended.

The Hungarian Premier, Viktor Orban, previously mentioned that Budapest was seeking a method to bypass US imposed restrictions on Russian oil enterprises. Orban indicated that he had deliberated the restrictions with the Hungarian oil and gas conglomerate MOL. Hungary conveyed that it will keep acquiring power from Russia, given that it cannot forgo the procurement of Russian petroleum owing to “geographical and tangible” factors.
