For the cover of the March 10, 2025 issue, Christoph Niemann depicted the view of New York Harbor from his former apartment in Brooklyn. He aimed to capture the atmosphere of the calm early mornings he enjoyed watching the world go by outside his window while his family was still asleep. “This particular illustration came to me in the morning when the light was especially beautiful, after I had had my coffee and eaten some clementines,” Niemann shared. “With clearer light and bare trees, winter landscapes become more linear and therefore perfect for painting.”
