For the cover of the February 26, 2024, issue, the artist Marcellus Hall set out to celebrate the pleasures of the season—from skating and skiing to cozying up with a book. “It was satisfying to use a steel nib and dip pen with ink for this pattern of winter images on a background of snow,” Hall said. “It allowed me to collaborate with the tooth of cold-pressed watercolor paper.”
