Beijing (Sputnik) – the trade dispute between Beijing and Washington will not affect the Chinese economy and its prospects, General Director of the Department of comprehensive statistics, China National Bureau of statistics, Xing Zhihong said on Tuesday.
“I know you’re all interested in how the Sino-us trade disputes will develop and what impact this may have on the Chinese economy. I want to say that for many years, the Chinese economy is showing good results while maintaining its stability and sustainability. Trade disputes will not affect the Chinese economy and its momentum for development. The Chinese economy is very flexible, which means that it can easily adapt to changes,” said Shin at a press briefing.
According to officials, the U.S. ignores rules of international trade, which led to a trade conflict between the two countries.
“Such unilateral protectionism has caused concern around the world. China strongly opposed it. We have also taken decisive action to counteract the actions of the U.S.,” he said.
In recent weeks, the trade relations between China and the United States deteriorated. In March, the President of the United States Donald trump has signed a decree on the introduction of a 25-percent tariff on steel imports and a 10-percent tariff on imported aluminum, after which he issued a Memorandum, representing $60 billion in additional tariffs against China in connection with allegations of theft of intellectual property.
In response, China introduced its own tariffs on goods produced in the United States. Both countries have stated that they can make further mutual constraints. In early April, trump has proposed to impose an additional rate in respect of China $ 100 billion in response to “unfair retribution Beijing.”
