Study claims Dublin is one of the hardest cities in the world to find a job

Dublin has been named as one of the most difficult cities in the world to get a job in, a new study has found.

The Job Difficulty Index, conducted by CVwizard, analysed job availability in cities worldwide, revealing the likelihood of getting a new job in some of the world’s biggest cities.

The study evaluated several factors including a combination of local employment agencies, government labour statistics, and international job boards to determine an overall score for job-seeking difficulty.

Dublin placed 13th on the list of the world’s most difficult cities to get a job.

With a population of over 1.2 million and just 20,000 job openings, CVwizard said job seekers may find it difficult to land their next role.

Dublin was joined on the list by three UK cities in Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Buenos Aires in Argentina has earned the title of the hardest city to get a job in. With a population of 15,618,288 and 29,000 jobs available, the country has an overall index score of 0.125.

In second place is Mexico City, followed by Riga, Latvia, and Shenzhen, China.

David Overmars of CV Wizard said: “Our study highlights the significant variations in job markets around the world.

“While cities like Zurich, Boston and San Francisco provide robust job opportunities across multiple sectors, others like Birmingham, Edinburgh and Dublin face substantial economic challenges, limiting employment options for residents.”
