Deputy PM: Russia May End Supplies of Rocket Engines to US, No Decision Made Yet

Moscow (Sputnik) – Russia will suspend delivery of rocket engines in the United States in the case that a decision would be made by the leadership of the country, but this decision has not been made, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said Tuesday.

“But we can say, just stop [delivery of rocket engines in the United States]? We can. But we have to weigh all the pros and cons and distinguish pure policy that makes you shoot yourself in the foot from economic pragmatism,” Rogozin told the RBK television, when asked a corresponding question.

Last week, leaders of factions in the State Duma, the lower house of Parliament together with the speaker Vyacheslav Volodin bill was introduced about the possibility of retaliatory measures to U.S. sanctions and anti-Russian policy.

The document envisages a ban on imports of us agricultural, alcoholic beverages, tobacco and medicines. This also implies the suspension of cooperation between Russia and the United States in the field of nuclear energy, aircraft manufacturing and deliveries of rocket engines.

The announcement of new measures against Russia came after earlier this month, the U.S. Treasury Department added another 38 Russian entrepreneurs, high-ranking officials and companies to the sanctions list in connection with the alleged Russian “malicious acts” around the world. Russian entrepreneurs designated by Treasury include Viktor Vekselberg, Oleg Deripaska, Alexei Miller, Kerimov S. A., Shamalov Kirill and Andrey Kostin.
