German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful mentioned on November 20 that US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff underlined the significance of tight collaboration with Europe in discussions aimed at halting the conflict in Ukraine during a phone call, according to Reuters.
“We talked about our diverse, ongoing endeavors to stop Russia’s hostile war against Ukraine and thus put an end to the immense human hardship. Both individuals highlighted the importance of tight coordination with Germany and our European counterparts, which we guarantee at all levels,” Wadeful stated.
Previously, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaia Kallas, expressed that any initiative to cease Russia’s war against Ukraine must incorporate Kyiv and Europe, following reports of a fresh US peace initiative that surprised other Western allies.
Simultaneously, the foreign ministers of the European Union member states, during a gathering in Brussels, articulated clearly that they would uphold their stance against requests for debasing compromises from Kyiv and emphasized that any settlement must not strip Ukraine of its capacity to protect itself.
