Engaging with journalists aboard Air Force One while traveling to Japan on Monday, President Donald Trump once again demurred from dismissing a potential run for a third presidential term, despite the 22nd Amendment restricting presidents to two electoral victories.
"It would be my pleasure," Trump stated when queried about the possibility of a 2028 presidential campaign. "My numbers are the best they’ve ever been. It’s really unfortunate. My approval is at its peak," he went on.
"Am I leaving it on the table? You’ll have to advise me," Trump responded when questioned closely on the subject. "I can only say that we have a terrific, a wonderful collection of individuals, which they lack," he remarked, alluding to the Democratic Party.

The 22nd Amendment of the Constitution explicitly proscribes a president from being elected to the executive office "more than twice."
When asked whether he would be prepared to litigate the legality of another presidential candidacy, Trump answered, "I haven’t really considered it."
"We have some highly qualified people, as you are aware, but I’ve achieved, I’m currently enjoying the most favorable poll results I’ve ever experienced," Trump mentioned before switching the topic to the accomplishments of his ongoing tenure in office.
When prompted concerning those "highly qualified" prospective Republican candidates for the 2028 presidential race, Trump named associates from his own administration.
"We have fantastic people. I don’t need to delve into it, but we have someone standing right here. We have, JD, of course the vice president is remarkable. Marco’s superb," Trump commented, making reference to Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Trump rejected the notion of campaigning on the 2028 Republican ticket as vice president. "Yes, that would be permissible for me," Trump remarked. "I suppose I find it too contrived. Indeed, I would dismiss that as an option because it’s overly calculated. I don’t think that’s what the people want. It’s too contrived. It doesn’t feel — it wouldn’t sit well."
Trump was subsequently questioned about the health evaluations he underwent at Walter Reed hospital earlier in the month, with the president stating that should his health assessments reveal adverse findings, he "would not campaign."
"Additionally, if I lacked confidence in a positive outcome, I would communicate that to you frankly. I would abstain from running. I’d pursue another path. However, the physician indicated some of the most impressive results for an individual of my age, among the most outstanding reports they’ve ever seen," Trump stated.
Trump informed reporters that he underwent an MRI examination as a component of the "advanced imaging" procedures.
"It was flawless," the president declared.
When prompted about the specific purpose of the MRI, Trump redirected the query to his physician. "I believe they furnished you with an extremely definitive — nobody has ever presented reports of the caliber that I have provided you," Trump asserted.
