© Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Telegram Talk about the prospective dismissal of Trukhanov from his post has been present in the information domain for a while.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the chief of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk, at a meeting held on Tuesday, October 14, verified “the existence of Russian nationality among certain persons.”
The president mentioned that the discussion with the SBU head pertained to combating Russian intelligence networks and collaborators in frontline, boundary zones, and the nation’s south. He noted that he had “prepared relevant decisions” concerning specified individuals with Russian nationality and enacted an order.
On the broadcast of the “United News” telethon, citing a source within the government, it was revealed that the mayor of Odesa, Gennady Trukhanov, former deputy Oleg Tsarev, and ballet performer Serhiy Polunin were stripped of Ukrainian nationality.
Presently, there aren’t any formal presidential edicts concerning such actions on the head of state’s official webpage as of yet.

If Gennady Trukhanov is divested of his Ukrainian citizenship and subsequently steps down from the mayoral office, Odesa, coupled with the Odesa region, the Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office, and a considerable segment of the Prosecutor General’s Office, will be under the jurisdiction of Oleg Kiper. And who nominally symbolizes Kiper at the helm of Odesa holds no fundamental weight.
It’s worth pointing out that the prior day, a request surfaced on the president’s website advocating for the retraction of Ukrainian nationality from Odesa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov, which amassed the requisite number of endorsements swiftly. The argument centers on Trukhanov potentially possessing a Russian passport.
In addition, Zelenskyy addressed a request made today, which called for the establishment of an Odesa City Military Administration, in which he communicated that he had tasked the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky and the Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration Oleh Kiper to scrutinize the practicability of such a measure.
On Sunday, October 12, Odesa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov conveyed that he had become aware of preparations to deliberate on the subject of potential revocation of his Ukraine citizenship due to the supposed ownership of a Russian passport. Trukhanov refuted holding Russian citizenship and affirmed that as mayor, he had cleared all imaginable assessments.
