First lady Melania Trump revealed on Friday that she and Russian President Vladimir Putin have established a "direct communication line" concerning the children affected by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
"We have consented to collaborate with one another for the good of all individuals embroiled in this conflict," she stated in brief comments made from the White House’s Grand Foyer.
"As a matter of fact, eight children have been successfully reunited with their families in the last 24 hours," she mentioned.
The first lady had composed a letter to Putin indicating it was crucial to safeguard the children impacted by the extended war, which was personally delivered by President Donald Trump during his encounter with the Russian leader in Alaska in August.
"He replied in writing, expressing a readiness to connect with me personally and providing specifics concerning the Ukrainian children residing within Russia," she conveyed on Friday.

Melania Trump stated that her delegate has been engaging directly with Putin's staff regarding the reunification of children separated from their families as the dispute progresses.
"Russia has illustrated a desire to reveal factual and in-depth information regarding the present circumstance," she remarked.
The first lady also noted that she was given a "comprehensive report" about the eight children who were brought back together and the U.S. government-validated facts contained in the documents.
"This holds immense significance for me. It is founded on a common objective and enduring influence," she expressed, further stating that strategies are "being implemented" to reunite more children in the foreseeable future.
"A child's spirit recognizes no boundaries, no flags," she declared. "We should cultivate a future for our children that is abundant with possibility, security, and complete with self-determination. A world where dreams come to fruition rather than being diminished by conflict."
